As we evolve, we are able to expand. 2020 will be our fourth year, and we are able to add to new races to the Calendar – The Dales High Way and The River Aire Ultra. The former is 90 miles long with some wicked climb, starts in Saltaire and finished in Appleby-in-Westmorland and the latter is 5o miles long, starts in Leeds and finishes at Malham Tarn.
The race series continues, this year on Facebook a poll was conducted and the Urban Legend will be rested with the season finale being The Christmas Cracker Handicap. The first person home in the handicap will take the season trophy, although there will still be a trophy for the runner with the most points during the season.
Categories continue as Female, Male, FV50, MV50. There will again be trophies for the most improved runner where applicable.
The slightly bad news is that whilst we have held our prices for 3 years, our costs have been increasing, so, unfortunately, we now have to increase the race series. The Dales Way will remain unchanged. However, both the Dales Way and the Dales High Way include medical cover and donations to the Dales Way/Dales High Way associations to help upkeep the routes.
Here is the provisional calendar. It will be confirmed on November 1st when entries open. Prices and dates are subject to change until then. All races have an entry limit of 200 except for Panther Takes The Hindmost and the Christmas Cracker Handicap, which comes into the race series at the expense of the Urban Legend for next year. Both these races are capped at 100.
Finally, the short courses of the race series will all be marked, but we will not guarantee to mark the longer courses.
